Oasis in Cardiff and other stuff!

9th of July, 2025

Hello! It's July, and I haven't updated this since May. Truth be told, I have just been so busy with uni and such... Now that I've passed every class handsomely, I can focus on my true passions: MUSIC and YAOI. So far, I have gotten more into Oasis and a little less into Blur. I think it was, at first, just because of how much I love Liam, but right now it's way beyond that.

I have finally purchased a copy of the other "main" album I was missing: (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, since my father gifted me the 30th Anniversary Deluxe edition of Definitely Maybe for my birthday last January. Aside from those two, I'm really proud to have collected other CDs like Heathen Chemistry and The Masterplan, my absolute favourites, especially The Masterplan !! Their live version of I am the Walrus blew my mind (dare I say, it elevates the original?... don't come at me, I'm a Lennon fan!!) and quickly became my favourite cover of the song. I think Oasis is a band that sounds absolutely amazing live, if not at their best. That's actually how I first got into their music: the first CD I purchased and really sat down to listen to was their Live at Knebworth '96 gig, and it took me a while to get used to the "cleaner", studio versions of the songs since I felt like they lacked their raw live energy. Thankfully I'm a huge fan of the studio versions now, but nothing comes close to how Slide Away and Round Are Way sounded in Knebworth. Definitely my favourite performance of theirs (I need the DVD, but it's 20€ in my local record store when it's free online, like...um...

Got reaaaally sidetracked, but yeah. In The Masterplan, I love I am the Walrus, Underneath the Sky, Acquiesce, Fade Away, Rockin' Chair, Half The World Away... I'm aware of the fact that it's a compilation thus the track runup, but I feel like it's the perfect songs/order and it was essential for me to get more into their music. I listened to it on my discman last March when I went for walks to take breaks from studying and it was absolutely biblical... I suppose that's the word LOL. And on Heathen Chemistry, The Hindu Times must easily be like top 3 Oasis songs ever for me.

I don't have any of their albums on vinyl so I mostly listen to my CDs or stream them. I do have the two singles they re-released this year: Whatever and Some Might Say, in their super cool coloured-splatter/ivory vinyl variants. I'm greatly upset, though, because my Some Might Say single seems to be distorted just on the A-side (literally the only reason why I got it because Talk Tonight isn't my favourite, although I also like it). I'm going to research how to fix it, if it can even be fixed, because it seemed to be already that way even when sealed. Sigh... ;(

But the MAIN POINT of this entry was to talk about the Oasis reunion! Just five days ago, they played their first gig in Cardiff for the first time in forever! I obviously was not there, but I dutily watched a YouTube livestream to not miss their opening with Hello and Acquiesce (almost made me tear up!!). I wasn't even at home, I had gone out shopping with my mother, so I plugged in my earbuds and listened to the opening act with Ashcroft in the fitting rooms. Thankfully, the gig only started once I was finally done and sat, so I could enjoy and sing along at my heart's content. On another note, all the lovely interactions and moments between Liam and Noel (the famous hand-holding, hugs and bows, as well as Noel's emotional faces and Liam's overjoyed smile - ALL OF IT MADE ME TEAR UP! WE ARE SO BACK!!). It's fantastic to see them getting along after such extended periods of tension.

I'm also enjoying following Bonehead on social media. He's wonderful. Anyway, I hope Oasis come to Spain in the future so I can see them. It would make my entire life.

FUCK MY LIFE!

??? of May, 2025

Curious way to start this blog... I'm mad as fuck because last year, I forwent getting Oasis tickets (my reasoning: I hadn't listened to them for that long and they're not even coming to the rest of Eruope, so why bother, since I'd have to fly to the UK and it's expensive) but I am regretting it so much. It's May and I don't have tickets..... WHYYYYYYYY. I'm so desperate I began browsing eBay tickets that are like 500 pounds and I considered it before remembering hotel, travel costs etc... I don't know if I'm going to regret it even more once it's over. Right now it's not looking too good for other tour dates (it's rumoured it will be their last) and I really just don't want to die without seeing Liam Gallagher in real life. SHAME. Fuck my stupid life actually I wish I was a british boy instead of a Spanish girl with autism

Hey there !

I'm Flan. I only got into britpop around fall 2024, and this is a diary to log what I enjoy related to it. I'm a longtime Gorillaz fan who finally decided to look into what else Damon was up to LOL. I'm mainly into blur and oasis because I'm a newgen, but I really want to look into the rest... Someday soon...
As a person and artist, my favourite out of all of them is Liam (but that's quite obvious). My favourite song is Slide Away by oasis (live at Knebworth). Cheers ♥
